Nowadays there are lots of ways to spell the word, like; Mah-jongg, Mahjongg, mah-jong, Majong or Mah Jong, there is no one way to spell it. The objective of the game is to discard the tiles from the field as soon as possible. This is done by making combinations of tiles, called melds. Examples of combinations are a chow: three suited tiles in sequence, a pair: two identical tiles, a pung: a set of three identical tiles, or a Kong: a set of four identical tiles.
A true \"Mahjong\" has five of the above combinations in sequence. One of these has to be a pair. The game consists of 136 tiles. 8 seasonal tiles can be added. The names of the tiles are Characters: the numbers 1 to 9, Bamboos: 1 to 9 sticks on a tile, Circles: 1 to 9 circles on a tile, Winds: the four directions on the compass, and Dragons: green, red, and white. At the end of the game, points are counted (earned by making combinations). Good luck with playing mahjong online!
